I'm now on Goodreads
I just found out how to "claim" my author page on Goodreads, so you can find me there at http://www.goodreads.com/daviddlevine.

What do you find useful about this community? What do you recommend I do as a new user?

I haven't unsubscribed from the email notifications for Goodreads (yet), but every few days I get an email saying "such and such" has just joined Goodreads. I think it must link into my Facebook friends list.

I can't remember why I got on there. Maybe something to do with Marty Beaudet's book, "Senseless Confidential." (Martin Banner?=pseudonym).

Haven't even looked at the website, so don't know what's there.

It's fascinating that you should mention Marty Beaudet, because as it happens I just met him for the first time at a writers' organization holiday party last night. Small, small world! Do you know him in real life?

I do...because of your party last year! I had known his partner Chuck through LJ for several years. Chuck grew up in Santa Fe, which is the cyberconnection. We met them for appetizers and a beer at a converted elementary school in Portland before we ran back for the evening dance that night!

Marty is definitely a delight and a skilled writer (non-sci fi as far as I can tell)...so glad we got to meet them both 'live' as it were.

Hugs!

I just went over and added you as a friend (you'll get the chance to turn me down). I've used it as a reader to list my own library, to follow writers I like, to read reviews before buying books or checking out library books... I have a couple titles of my own on there but I don't promote them at all (they're old) - (though I see that some people have actually put them on their to-read lists!)

But I like the site as a reader, mainly. So I'm sorry I can't help you with author's tips, although since I do keep track of my favorites there, I guess they're good for that. Anyway, welcome aboard.
