Mysterious Portuguese tweet
A Twitter search on my name just turned up a tweet in Portuguese from user @lamevaperdicio (La Meva Perdició):

"#02DL “Portava a la mà una carpeta vermella amb una etiqueta en què es podia llegir TOP SECRET”. (David D. Levine)."

This tweet is a translation into Portuguese of a sentence from my Wild Cards Volume 1 rev 2.0 story "Powers," but I can't figure out what the #02DL hashtag is or why he tweeted it. Any guesses?

None of the other tweets with that hashtag (there are 8 all told) seem related to Wild Cards. My best guess is that it's one of those "tweet the first sentence on page 17 of whatever book you're reading" memes.

Looking at the other uses of the hashtag, Google Translate thinks they're Catalan not Portuguese: do any of the rest of these phrases ring any bells?

That'd explain it, all right.

My friend says,

Hi Deborah, it's spanish not portuguese, but it seems that says something like "It carries a red carpet and a label where one could read TOP SECRET"

So if that's not good enough, I'm sure you can find a Spanish speaker to decode it further.

Turns out it is neither Portuguese nor Spanish but Catalan! A group of Catalan writers is writing a microfiction springing off from that one sentence of mine. I'm kind of tickled!

Sure thing. I just sent him a message via FB and will let you know what he says.
