LJ tech question
Is there any way for me to make LJ display the author of an RSS-syndicated article (for articles from multi-author blogs such as makinglight and tordotcom) on my Friends page? My theme is Flexible Squares, if that matters.

ETA: Looks like this is an existing feature request.

I wish I knew, especially with Jeff Vandermeer's blog, which has guest bloggers more than the native blogger! I finally just moved most of my RSS Lj feeds to my regular feed reader, which

There are two problems: first you need the raw RSS feed to contain the info you want to display, and second you'd need LJ's syndication system to grok that.

If the info exists in the feed in the first place, you could probably - given your own server access - cobble together something that put the author's name up front in the feed, and then get LJ to syndicate that, but it's not impossible that filtering/munging a feed's contents like that may seem to some as if it goes beyond fair use....

The feeds do have <author> tags (just look at the XML for either of the named feeds) but LJ isn't displaying it. I'm hoping there's a way to reconfigure my friendslist to display that information (but I'm not holding my breath).

Munging the feed as you describe is technically possible and might even be "fair use," but it's more work than I care to do for this problem.

I've submitted an LJ help request, so we'll see if that, um, helps...
