Still plugging away on the YA fantasy. I feel my brain trying to impose plot, but I'm trying to continue just driving where my headlights can see.

holyoutlaw posted a video of a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, happy dog (ETA: fixed link), to which I commented "I have never before heard Doppler shift on a squeeky toy." For this feat of scientific detection I have been named an Improbable Research Investigator. (Thanx to gerisullivan for the tip.)

I received a fat envelope from F&SF, which I tore open with great excitement. But it wasn't a contract... just a rejection with some suggestions on tightening the opening. Alas. (And no, it wasn't a subtle rewrite request.)

In his year-end round-up of Realms of Fantasy, ecbatan calls my "Joy is the Serious Business of Heaven" one of the best short stories in the magazine this year.

Artisan booksmith Todd Sanders is hand-making a few bound copies of my zeppelin story "Love in the Balance." You can see a picture of the work in progress here.

On Sunday November 29, I will be participating in Sci-Fi Authorfest III at Powell's Books in Beaverton. This multi-author booksigning event starts at 4:00 PM and includes lilithsaintcrow, camillealexa, barbhendee and jchendee, devonmonk, brendacooper, kriswrites and deanwesleysmith, anghara, lmarley, and others, plus the Cloud City Garrison of the 501st Imperial Legion.

The OryCon 31 program schedule has been posted. Gosh, that's only two weeks away!

*sigh* Apparently only a select few are allowed to view the happy doggy video, and I'm not among them. *sigh*

Ah, the second one worked. *bliss* I wonder how happy the neighbors are with Andy...but who cares? That does the heart good, don't it? Happy happy dog. :)

I had the same problem ( the first link was somewhat grimly FORBIDDEN...) but having watched the dog clip in the second link... why do I suddenly feel so *tired*...?

Ah, the original link I posted was to a friendslocked LJ post. I've replaced that with a direct link to the video on YouTube.

On letting the characters drive the bus...
have you had the trouble yet where they are going so fast you can't keep up? I sometimes have to yell at them to slow down so I can get it all down. bliss actually, but don't tell them.

oh, and jot the plot down somewhere, you may find you need it if they didn't generate one you like better.
