An acceptance and a cover
"A Little Song, A Little Dance," a ghost story co-written with Andrine de la Rocha, will appear in charity anthology Breaking Waves: An Anthology for Gulf Coast Relief from Book View Cafe. It will be published very soon but I don't know if it will be an e-book, hardcopy, or both. All the proceeds will go to help victims (people and animals) of the recent Gulf oil spill.

Also, take a gander at the fabulous cover for Wild Cards I, coming in November! Might be the best cover I've ever had.

So much to do before our trip to Australia, but we had a pleasant afternoon hanging out with intelligentrix, a nice surprise.

Have I mentioned I won't get a Thursday this week? We depart the US on Wednesday and arrive in Australia, 18 hours later, on Friday. On the other hand, when we come home our flight takes negative 53 minutes.

Yeah. No Thursday. I'd noticed that... :/

I must've missed an episode. Since when are you a Wild Cards writer?

Publicly, since April of last year. (LJ won't let me connect to David's own post from then--"Frank has been chewing on the wires again.") But of course there's been nothing to show for it in all that time.

Congrats on the sale, and congrats on that cover art. Very cool. (Having worked at Bantam when the first editions of the Wild Cards books were published, I am biased in favor of the originals, but there's no question that this cover is awfully good indeed.)

And yeah, that missing Thursday thing seems to be disconcerting everyone I know who's going to Australia. I think you get it back on the other end though, don't you?

But we don't. Oh, we get the hours back, and land in synch with the people back home after experiencing the same elapsed duration. (You can't become younger than your twin by looping around the globe a few times.)

Coming home, do we get two Thursdays? Nope. Just a rrreeeaaalllllyyyy lllloooonnnnngggg Wednesday (in our case). # of distinct Thursdays in 2010: down by one. # of distinct every-other-day: same. Disconcerting? Boy howdy!

A rrreeeaaalllllyyyy lllloooonnnnngggg Wednesday, eh? I guess it's a sign of just not getting the hang of Thursdays, then. :-)

And yes, disconcerting as hell.
