Query: where would you go in Sydney for a plush wombat?
Kate desires a plush wombat as a souvenir, but so far has not found the Wombat of her Dreams. Where would you go in Sydney for a large selection of soft toys?

Sydney Wildlife World may have some. Not sure if the gift shop is accessible without paying admission, though.

either that or the adjacent aquarium. Shop should be accessible without paying. 'cause, you know, paying to get into a shop would go against the very essence of commercialism.
Also, Taronga Zoo (nice ferry ride across the harbour). Shop is at the top entrance, definitely accessible without paying. Never mind the zoo's worth the entrance fee ;-)
Hi David. New follower here. I attended your talks at Worldcon. I live in Sydney.

hiya! We did the zoo the other day. grand. their stuffed wombat was prob very accurate but greyer than I want. (being v v picky I know.) The live ones were all asleep but one kept chasing rabbits in it's sleep, so cute.

I'm pretty sure the gift shop suggested above would have something, but I can't remember for certain when I passed through a week ago. I'm so envious of you having so much time to travel and enjoy things. I kept feeling very rushed and never had time to slow down in the mere week I had post-con.

If you strike out while you're there, I happen to have four (4!) little plush wombats that I ordered and had shipped to Omaha all the way from Australia. You could have one or more of them (free) by promising 1) not to ask why I've got them (seriously), and 2) to give them a loving home.

Thanks so much for your generous wombat offer! However, Kate did find the Wombat of her Dreams at a souvenir shop in The Rocks, so we are good to go. We think her name is Fiona. http://plixi.com/p/46413372

Oh, I'm glad for you. Yours is about 4 x the size of all four of mine anyway.
