So... should I go to Norwescon next year? Haven't gone in so many years I forget why I stopped going.

Well, why do you go to conventions? Let's start there and then find out whether Norwescon satisfies those desires.

The reason I say that is that Norwescon is still a healthy con that is increasing in size. It may not have some things that it used to so that "old-timers" like you and me might be dissatisfied with that but obviously there's a large segment that likes what's there.

I for one had a great time with the new Quidditch game that they instituted last year. It was a blast!

I just go and sit in the bar or meet friends for dinner. Works for me.

I stopped going because they stopped inviting me - interestingly enough, in the same year they were loudly bemoaning the lack of editors.

You should go! I think you'd make a marvelous addition to a panel of placing SF on Mars, for instance, plus writing panels. And the green room has had marvelous food the past couple of years.

Of course I may be biased, since I'm the Science Fiction Track lead and requested you as a pro...

not go and miss Hotel and Parking Hell?

i'd like to see you there.

the organization works well, the hotel is friendly, and light rail + the rapidride bus line makes it easy to take Amtrak to Seattle, or leave the car with friends in Seattle, or make side trips into Seattle without giving up a precious precious parking space.

The hotel has started staffing better than they used to, and last year I had no problems with parking for the first time ever. Dining choices at the hotel were VERY limited, however, so bear it in mind if you have dietary restrictions.

The new programming crew is now up to speed and they did a decent job last year, but you do have to be very specific with your surveys. For the most part, it's a pretty good and very wide-appeal con but the space can be a pain to work in. Do, however, book your room well in advance or you'll be across the street or farther. The light rail works pretty well if you're coming from downtown Seattle, but not much use otherwise.

For me it's a "will go if convenient" con. This coming year it will not be convenient as I'll be in Portugal and it's a bit of a commute....

It's gotten big enough that I go to Writer Con, I've got friends who go to Gamer Con, others attend LARPcon or ArtistCon - we all meet for lunch or dinner and have a blast :>.

Please come this year. I go and enjoy each year; between the great writing/editing track and the fan music track I have many things to do I enjoy.
Besides, I'd like to see you more than once a year, y'know. :)

Two reasons:
1) Good for the career
2) Excellent company :-)
