Update on Kate
Kate is out of the ICU and into a normal room. She is recovering quite well from the surgery and we anticipate that we will be going home today.

We got the histology report on the mass and it is a malignant tumor. We have met with two oncologists and the treatment plan under consideration involves both radiation and chemotherapy.

We will be needing lots of love and support over the next six months or so, especially meals, transportation, chores, and logistics. Please contact Bo O'Dell (youknowmeasbo at gmail dot com) if you can help.

Please do one thing for me. Don't say "fuck cancer."

Is there anything those of us who are geographically distant can do to help?

I never would, I hate that saying. My best wishes while you work on this challenge.

My very best wishes to you both at this difficult time.

Glad to hear it went well. If this had to happen, Portland is a good place for it; lots of good surgeons and oncologists. Good luck and a good outcome to you both.

Rotten news. Hope and strength to you both.

Love and good wishes are all I can offer at the instant (geography being a nuisance again), but you have those.

So sorry to hear that. Still, cancer treatments have improved tremendously, but still, it sucks. Hang in there.

Thinking of you both. Most of our Portland friends are friends in common, but I will rally a couple of others to contact Bo and provide some local support.

Love and hugs for both of you.

I am sorry to hear that its malignant.. damn thing anyway. They keep telling me that my brain tumor is benign, but my reply to that has been "only until it does something" because tumors are tricksey things.

I bought the new mag with your story in it Tuesday...

I'm so sorry to hear this, David, but glad to hear she's recovering well and will be home soon. Our thoughts are with you. Good luck in the months ahead.

Glad to hear Kate is recovering, and wish you all well with the chemo.

I don't view this sort of treatment as a battle, but simply as a health issue. Best wishes to both of you for the road ahead.

Best wishes to you both.

Welcome home. Many thanks for sharing the hard news. Love and support are streaming your way through the electrons and I know more of both are available on the home front.

The tumor type may well be different, and ditto that for the specific chemo drug(s), but if it's of any help, I can share info on the ways a radiation and chemo treatment plan helped Susan Palermo when I was involved with her caregiving in 2011. And if it's not a help, I can keep my mouth shut. :-)

That histology wasn't what anyone wanted to hear; I'm sorry.

I hope Kate is continuing to do so well in recovery, and then that she has excellent luck with the treatment.
